The Catholic Sacrament of Reconciliation (also known as the Sacrament of Penance or Confession) has three elements: conversion, confession and celebration. In it we find God's unconditional forgiveness, and as a result we are called to forgive others.
In our parish, Confession is available at prearranged times every Saturday in St Joseph’s Church and by appointment at the Priory throughout the week.
Children attending St Joseph’s School make their preparations for First Confession and First Communion at school when they are in Year 3. Children attending other schools make their sacramental preparation via Children’s Catechism. Every autumn, those in Year 3 or above are invited to register for the programme. Traditionally, children make their first Confession a few weeks before receiving their First Holy Communion.
